Update: Travis' skin graph
Travis got a skin graph today from his right thigh to his backside wound. Hopefully, if this takes, in 2 weeks he will be able to have surgery to remove his H.O.! (that's the abnormal bone growth in his hip, prohibiting him to move) He's doing pretty goodthough. His pain has been more under control. Theyuse a pain scale from 1-10, 1 no pain, 10 the worst, and he had been sitting at a 6-7 all day long. Now ithas dropped to a 4-5 all day. So this is a goodrelief.

Update: Mystery solved
I just got this email to pass along from Stephanie.
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your emails! I'm sorry if I don't get back to all of you, butplease know how much we are grateful for each on ofyou! Travis had a hiccup this week. We found out thereason he has had so much pain in his right leg isbecause, he has a condition called heterotopicossification or H.O. It is when there is abnormalbone growth, and Travis' is growing in his right hipand down his leg. The bone is growing into hismuscle, and it is so painful. The dr.s think it'scaused by the body overcompensating for trying to healhis pelvis and other fractures. There is reallynothing that could have been done to prevent it. Travis has so much extra bone, that hopefully onMonday, the docs will go in and shave it out. Ofcourse there are always risks with surgery, but it isthe best option for him right now. He can't even movehis right leg it has been so painful, so this shouldalleviate a lot of pain. After he recovers, PT and OTare going to go right back and make him move as muchas possible, so he can get out of bed! So, that isthe prelminary reports that we have, and hopefullyMonday will be the day of freedom! Thank you again somuch for all your support! We really reallyappreciate you all! Happy Mothers Day!!!!Love, Steph

Update: Cardiac chair
I'm just going to post the update straight from Steph...
Hello everyone! Travis got out of bed today! They pulled him with his sheets off his bed onto a cardiacchair. A cardiac chair is a a bed with wheels that someone can push the patient around the hoepsital! Travis got to be outside for the first time in 3 and ahalf months! It really hurt his right leg, because ofthe nerve damage in it, but he did great! He was outand about for an hour! The docs will start doing thisevery day now! It is just so great! He is doingreally well with his pins out. The pin sites arefinally healing, although he will have killer scars! He still can't move his right leg, but the PhysicalTherapy people are working on it. His spirits arestill good though, but hey, it's Travis! Of couse heis still in good spirits! He sends his love to youall, and thank you all so much for your love andsupport! We truly appreciate it! Love, Steph
