CEDAR CITY - A soldier from southern Utah was severely injured in Afghanistan when land mines destroyed his vehicle, his mother said. Travis Wood, 23, a soldier with the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division, suffered extensive injuries Jan. 14, including a fractured neck and spine, a crushed pelvis and various leg injuries, The Spectrum of St. George reported Thursday.
